Very sad situation. There were many people traveling that route today with the start of the rec soccer season. Reports on NJ.com state that there are at least 2 dead, and 2 injured with one of those injuries being very serious. Through a local friend who witnessed the accident, I was told the driver who was involved was driving with their hazards on and the car suddenly accelerated and went out of control and hit a group of 5 people. Then the car continued and slammed into a pole. I'm sorry to hear that we lost members of our community and I am so sad to hear that they were taken too soon. My thoughts go out to the families involved.

That is a horrible intersection for pedestrians and with a school right there this was bound to happen. There should be no turn on right from Hardnburg to Dunhams and a pedestrian crossing with light should be installed. My prayers to all.

I live on Dunhams between ryders and hardenburgh. Due to the amount of pedestrian traffic, the speed limit between hardenburgh and ryders should be 25 MILES PER HOUR. There is already a traffic light at dunhams and hardenburgh, and people do well in excess of the speed limit FREQUENTLY.

This is absolutely horrible. If anyone knows family members please ask them if there is any way Patch can help.

Making a left from Dunhams onto Hardenburg is hazardous at that intersection too. Cars coming from opposite direction on Dunhams appear after a curve and anyone speeding is on top of you before you know it. Really hazardous. So sorry to hear this

All right turns on red should be eliminated at this intersection. Drivers from both roads, and especially Dunhams, barely slow down, let alone stop, before turning right at this location.

People as well as police drive erraticly and too fast on the roads in East Brunswick, maybe the installation of speed bumps would help

The two dead as well as the injured are well-known and upstanding members, ones who have acted in a leadership role, of the Young Israel community. The synagogue community is in a state of shock following this tragedy. It joined together to pray over the unfathomable sadness, reciting Psalms, several times following the awful event. The Rabbi worked at the scene of the accident alongside emergency personnel and police, tirelesslyi, to ensure that the remains received the traditional respectful treatment in preparation for burial.

I'm not sure a pedstrian crossing signal is enough. Last week someone stopped for pedestrians crossing dunhams, and was rear ended. We need a reduced speed limit here, or more accidents and tragedies are inevitable at this location. There's too much foot traffic. What's so hard about this???

There should be a round-a-bout directional circle at that intersection, because it's very dangerous from any direction,a circle would definately slow traffic.

With this horrible accident, and from years of watching people speed up Frost Ave (despite a 25 MPH limit), why not install speed bumps?
