I await the Mayor's announcement of a task force to review the intersection and submit plans to upgrade lighting, turn signals, and increase police presence.

We should all be nice and slow down, why are so many drivers in a rush? Also please get off the phone and use your signals and I don't mean the jersey hand signal!

......saw the aerial footage of the accident on the news (Channel 7 traffic helicopter), and it looked very serious. One car up on conc. median, and other was t-boned on driver side ....caved in up to center console. I suspect the injuries were very serious.

It was apparently a car chase that resulted in a crash after police stopped the chase.

The police were asking the crowd that formed at the scene if there were any witnesses so it is unlikely this accident involved a chase.

The Home News Tribune is reporting a fatality.

I saw the accident, it was a young kid... he was traveling well over the posted speed limit.. He passed me on the shoulder doing 80 to 100 mph then crashed at the next intersection.. Then he jumped out of his car and ran... That's right in front of buttery fly park were a lot of women and children go.. There's no reason for this at all.. Why would you drive so fast.. I pray for all the families...

I heard it on the scanner as it was happening. It was a guy who ran from police for making an illegal u-turn on Rt 18 & his plates came back not on file. The police broke off trying to pull him over when he started exceeding the speed limit. The East Brunswick Police did a good job tracking him down. Prayers for the families of all involved. It is so upsetting to see so many with disregard for the law!

You need to read all the articles ppl. I saw the accident. It is not that he was in a rush .. he was running from the police. They did a great job ENDING PURSUIT bec they saw him exceeding the speed limit. Better him to not get caught than kill someone. However, he continued his own "chase" and as a result killed 2 innocent ppl. So sad.

I meant that the police realized it was potentially dangerous when the guy drove at excessive speed so they stopped chasing him, thinking it was less dangerous to let the guy get away then put ppl's lives at risk with him driving reckless.
