East Brunswick Police Disarm Knife-Wielding Man
The elderly man has been taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center for evaluation.
An East Brunswick man was arrested Wednesday night after calling police and brandishing a knife upon their arrival.
According to a Nixle message from the East Brunswick Police Department, Milan Obradovich, 76, called 911 at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday. When police arrived, they found him in his apartment at Civic Center Apartments brandishing a knife.
"Officers ordered Mr. Obradovich to drop the knife, but he failed to comply with their orders. Mr. Obradovich advanced on the officers brandishing the knife. Officers employed pepper spray to keep the subject at a safe distance and then utilized a ballistic shield to approach and disarm him," the message said.
Obradovich was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruction and resisting arrest, according to the message.
He was taken to the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy for evaluation, according to the message.
