East Brunswick Officials: I am from out of state and finally received a call from friends still without power. They, and many others, do not have smart phones to get this important information on comfort stations and community information. PLEASE consider other alternatives for communicating…. megaphone in the streets, information flyers posted at major intersections, resident volunteer communication stations.

Natural gas stopped flowing at my house at 9 AM this morning, 11/2/12 (Myrtle Road, East Brunswick). No one in our area has had electric power since the storm, but the loss of additional utilities is an even greater challenge (this means no hot water or stove-cooking, too). Is the natural gas shutoff temporary in our area? It is my understanding that reconnection for natural gas following shutdown must be accompanied by a full facility inspection (longer delay, to relight existing pilot lights).

The Hess station on Rt 18 South was price gouging gas today charging $4.49 a gallon and was cash only. People finally got up to the pumps after waiting in line and told it was cash only. Not everyone had cash. Needless to say there were problems and hot tempers.

We appreciate all your updates about gas, firewood and what businesses have power but what about the most important update like when will power restored? We have not received one update on power restoration. What is being done? How about some communication on where we stand with each of the areas that are without power.

Don't you think that people who walk into a gas station, fill up gas cans and transport them in their cars are creating hazardous conditions? What if they get into an accident? The cars will blow up? How smart is this?
