Milltown Post Office to Reopen Monday
The post office has been closed since it was damaged during Hurricane Irene.
The Milltown Post Office will reopen its doors after being closed for more than a year following damages caused by Hurricane Irene.
According to a press release from the office of Rep. Rush Holt, the post office will open its doors on Monday with a formal reopening ceremony.
Holt and Milltown Mayor Eric Steeber, joined by officials from the USPS will reopen the office at 3 p.m.
The post office closed after it was heavily damaged by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene.
"On December 16, 2011, shortly after visiting the flood-damaged post office, Holt wrote to Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe requesting assurances that Milltown would retain a full postal retail facility," the release said. "The USPS provided such a commitment in May 2012 but did not announce where or when the postal facility would open. Finally, in December 2012, the USPS committed to reopening the existing post office as an interim step toward establishing permanent postal services in Milltown."
Beginning Jan. 28, the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Milltown Post Office is located at 27 Washington Ave., Milltown.

What good news this is, for Milltown and surrounding customers in the area. I have been just sick and tired driving down to the EB facility which is far for me, or over Route 18 to the other side to use the post office. The workers at the Milltown facility are so kind and professional at all times that I have been there..almost like family! I was worried when I was told the facility would never open again. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief!
