No School Thursday
Snow, a new power outage and downed power lines and trees mean there will be no school on Thursday.
The East Brunswick School District announced that there will be no school on Thursday, Nov. 8.
The decision was made due to extensive power outages in the township, including one that hit the majority of the town on Wednesday. In addition, the nor’easter has created more downed trees and power lines due to the snow, said the announcement.
The decision was made after consulting with the Department of Public Safety and the Office of Emergency Management, according to the announcement.

that is what I was wondering, but they are missing so much school, I wonder if they have to open it if they can just to get one day in

I think this is totally ridiculous! I can understand delay opening, but closing is unexceptable. How can board of Ed change their mind within two hours of time? Do they understand there are a lot of working parents out there? Do they know parents can't really make arrangement at 9 o'clock the night before? Of the charter school are open, why can't public school? They are really taking kids education as a joke!

Ebmom...I am sorry that you are terribly inconvenienced by a hurricane coming through and ripping apart trees and downing live power lines throughout the entire town. Just when you thought you were going to be able to drop your kids off at day care, er, school, then we get a few inches of snow on top of many of the trees and power lines that are still down. My neighborhood just got power on Monday, lost it again during the Thursday storm for about a half day, and there are still telephone poles smashed with down wires and trees across the front of their house around the corner from me. I would love to see my son get back to school and get back into routine. As it is, they will need to make up many days. However, I'm putting my kid's safety first even though I have to find some way to have him looked after. BTW, the charters have a small fraction of kids....not an entire district worth. Geez, get a clue. The world is sorry that you are inconvenienced while other families are burying their family members around the state or have been forced out of their house until it can be repaired, if ever.

The charter schools are the joke. The job of the BOE is not to provide childcare for working parents, it is to provide a SAFE EDUCATION for ALL the students.

School Friday for those who can be'transported to' School if not by bus but by parent.....agian so many mixed messages first we all have school, then only some have School
