Progress on Power Being Made

PSE&G expects to have power restored to its remaining customers in East Brunswick by midnight Sunday. JCP&L says Monday.

PSE&G announced today that it expects to have the remaining 3,500 customers without power in East Brunswick back online by midnight Sunday.

Of the 15,250 PSE&G customers in East Brunswick, 14,250 were left without power by Hurricane Sandy. Middlesex County township's that the company will be focusing on this weekend are Edison, Piscataway, Woodbridge and East Brunswick

On the JCP&L end, of its 4,588 East Brunswick customers, 3,715 are without power, according to a statement released by the company. Of those with outages, 2,080 were expected to be restored Saturday, Nov. 3; 743 on Sunday, Nov. 5; and 223 on Monday, Nov. 5

Statewide, PSE&G had restored power to 65 percent of customers that lost it in the storm, and in the last day, service to major gas refiners and 75 percent of schools was restored.

Also in the last 24 hours, the company energized its switching stations and restored 16 substations.

Currently, about 73 percent of PSE&G customers have power while 607,000 are still without it. At its peak,, he storm impacted 1.7 million of PSE&G’s 2.2 million customers.

According to the company’s statement, it has 2,794 mutual aid line workers and tree contractors from out of state helping on the ground. An additional 319 new workers are due today and 300 more are being sent from Washington, D.C. In addition, 102 out-of-state personnel who specialize in substations have arrived to assist.

PSE&G is focusing its efforts this weekend on those areas where we can restore power to the maximum number of customers. In addition to the municipalities listed below, we will continue to address priority customers including hospitals, public safety facilities, schools and water systems throughout our service territory.
