Seven Roads to be Repaired

The Township Council approved seven roads that will be repaired as part of the 2012 Township Capital Budget. Is yours on the list? Do you agree with the list?

The township is getting ready for one of its signature events—road improvements.

Each year the township sets aside money for the maintenance and repair of several township roads. On Monday, the Township Council approved this year’s list of roads that will be repaired.

The $500,000 needed to fund the projects was approved in March as part of Mayor David Stahl’s $1.4 million capital budget.

On Monday, Township Administrator James White said repairs are subject to weather conditions, but are expected to happen over the summer.

Don’t forget, if you have a pot hole on your road that needs to be repaired, you don’t have to wait until that road is on a list. Simply call the township Public Works Department or visit their website and file a request to have it filled. Township employees will be out promptly to take care of the problem.

Here are the roads approved for repairs this year. Is yours on it? Let us know in the comments if there is a road you’d rather see on this list.

How about the section of 18 South between Eggers Street and Edgeboro? That's like going off-roading!

Route 18 is a State highway. Call Trenton.

...yes....agreed....regarding Rte 18...the Town needs to call Trenton...and tell them that the southbound center and right hand lanes between the Tpke exit and Edgeboro Rd need to be REPLACED with heavy duty asphalt pavement section...or...in the perfect world...reinforced concrete pavement (as is done at bus stops..and in southern state Interstate roads). Those lanes are subject to pavement "pumping"...meaning that during warm weather...under the weight of all the trucks & buses...and their start / stop movement...the pavement actually moves...like Jello. I've seen that area of Rte 18 (particularly in front of where David's Bridal was)...being merely patched...and I shake my head because it's like putting a band-aid on a shotgun wound.

While you're calling Trenton, please mention Rt. 18 and Arthur Street: in the winter it's a skating rink and in the warmer weather when it rains, a swimming pool. What a disgraceful mess our roads are.

I think as always it will take something negative to happen on these roads for them to do something, if even become more aware of the problem....such as a blown-out tire or a bent rim. I know because this happened to one of my relatives and the township had to pay dearly for the damages. Other than the holes being a nuisance, they can also cause great damage to one's car.
