The Central New Jersey Silver Bullets U-11 boy’s team, Forrest, won the MAPS, CAPS Classic tournament.
Team Forrest was formed in honor and loving memory of Jerry Forrest, a founding member of the CNJSB soccer club, which makes its home in East Brunswick. The captain of the soccer team was Jerry’s son, Conor Forrest.
Winning the tournament was a total team effort. Team Forrest only surrendered 3 goals, a feat that was accomplished without a full-time goalkeeper, with field players taking turns in goal. The team was also very aggressive offensively, scoring 18 goals and almost every player on the roster scored during the tournament.
In addition Team Forrest played an inspired, passionate and entertaining style of soccer. Players showcased individual skills while still playing a team passing game. The mix of both styles proved to be a successful formula. The team atmosphere was more like a family. Team Forrest even won the Fort Dix dance contest placing first.
Team Forrest was coached by Jerry Forest’s very good friend Corrado Carbone, Anthony Truppi and Carlos Pino. The players were: Captain Conor Forrest, Akeem Alexander, Matthew Araujo, Kareem Bahrami, Gaven Bridgman, Corrado Carbone Jr., Michael Carracino, James Coleman, Gurshan Gill, Patrick Keenaghan, David Labradore, Gia LaRocca, Drew Patterson, Ryan Sclar, Kevin Sheil, Alessandro Truppi and Marcus Urrutia.
