Two Attempt Armed Robbery, Meet Resistance from Owner
Police are seeking two men who tried to rob Harry's Gold on Route 18.
A business owner on Route 18 allegedly chased two armed robbers out of his store with a legal handgun, said police.
Police said two men, one with a black handgun, entered Harry’s Gold on Route 18 today (Tuesday, Nov 13) at 3:44 p.m., at a point that it was empty of customers. Once in the store, one of the men tried to enter a locked office. The owner of the store then produced his own handgun, which he had a legal permit to carry.
Both suspects then left the store without any stolen items or money and ran northbound on Route 18. Numerous police units from East Brunswick and South River searched for the suspects but were unsuccessful.
Both suspects had disguised themselves by wearing black masks over their faces. One male was wearing a light grey hoody and the other male was wearing a black hoody.
Anyone with any information or may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detective John Breen of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Division at 732-390-6990.
