On Wednesday, August 19, the East Brunswick Public Library and volunteers from the Teen Library Connection hosted the Dragon Breath's Carnival Time. Kids enjoyed many fun games and activities, including face-painting, crafts, skiball, and medieval quidditch. According to the library website, the event was set for the indoor meeting rooms. But with the lovely weather and sunshine, the event moved outside onto the sidewalk of the library. The carnival was open to all members of the library's reading club and took place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The party, assembled at the mouth of the dungeon in close formation, met the charge of the ghost elves with a piercing battle-cry. “Twenty! That’s totally double damage!” shouted Bant the Barbarian, who proceeded to high-five his cheering companions. Callen, the leader of the party, tried to remind his warriors that the ghost elves were still present in great number. Air flares, ciphers and head spins were on display Saturday, Feb. 26, at the East Brunswick Public Library’s Break Dancing Session. Attended by nearly 100 teens, in addition to many curious younger children and their parents, these “sessions” are a semi-monthly event hosted by the Library since June 2009. Sara Imranyi, a librarian, suggested the idea of staging break dancing in the library when she noticed so many teens using the nearby Gazebo at the East Brunswick Municipal Complex to sharpen their moves. “They would be out there in all kinds of weather, practicing and practicing,” says Sara…
