Today in East Brunswick: International Film Festival, Senior Farmers' Market Vouchers

Summer is flying by here in East Brunswick! If you mean to get outside to take advantage of it, now is the time!

Here are some things happening around town today, if you're looking for inspiration.

1. If you missed our post about the Middlesex County Fair on Monday, it bears repeating: The fair is open and in full swing!

It's open from 5-11 p.m. today, and features a performance from The Nerds, pro wrestling matches, racing pigs, a petting zoo and a dog show. Check out the full daily schedule here.

2. The East Brunswick Library's International Film Festival continues today with a screening of the film "A Royal Affair" at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. The film is rated R.

3. Do you have seniors in your family that are living on fixed incomes? On Wednesday, the senior center will give out a fixed number of vouchers for the Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program.

According to the East Brunswick Sentinel, to be eligible for the vouchers, seniors must be 60 or older and have a gross monthly income of less than $1,772 for one person or $2,392 for two people.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, and the vouchers will be drawn beginning at 10 a.m., according to the Sentinel report.

4. Have you registered your young children for kindergarten yet? Registration is currently open for the coming school year for kids who will be five years of age by Oct. 31, 2013. For more information, visit the school district website.
