Adopt a Dog or Cat This Weekend

The Animal Rescue Force of East Brunswick has cats and dogs up for adoption.

Help find a cat or dog a home by attending one of several adoption events sponsored by the Animal Rescue Force of East Brunswick this weekend. ARF holds weekly adoption events throughout the area to find homes for animals that would have been euthanized in a shelter or whose parents can no longer care for them.

Every Saturday and Sunday you can find ARF at the PetSmart on
Route 18 in East Brunswick from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; at the Petco on Route 1 in Edison from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and at the Englishtown Auction, 90 Wilson Road, Englishtown, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (located in the big gray building).

Max is a 7-year-old male Lhasa mix.  He is very laid back and mellow.  He crates easily.  Likes other dogs.  May be ok with cats and children. He has demodectic mange, not contagious, and is taking oral medicine. To adopt him will cost $100.  Was just neutered, has heartworm test, shots, ID chip. Max will be at the Englishtown Auction, 90 Wilson Road, Englishtown, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (located in the big gray building). Check the ARF website on Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. to see if anything has changed. ARF may not be present if it is raining.

Emma may be a Chihuahua/Puggle mix. She is 3 years old  and weighs 11 pounds.  Emma was from a shelter, she was starved and abused which made her very distrusting of people.  She does get to know people but bonds mostly with the people she lives with.  She snaps at first and she will always be that way with new people.  She also is food and toy possessive since she had been starved.  Once you know her quirks she is easier to deal with. Because of this she wouldn't do well with kids.  She can also be very affectionate. She absolutely loves belly rubs and would like it if you could just quit your job and rub her belly all day and night. She likes other dogs, but is dominant around them.   She chases cats... she thinks it's fun, but the cats think otherwise.   She loves toys and romps around and throws them everywhere.  She also enjoys rawhides and treats.

As you can see in her updated pictures Emma recently lost an eye due to glaucoma, it was very painful and she couldn't see out of it anyway.  She is now pain-free.  All it takes is someone willing to give her a chance. With patience she will make a great pet. Emma is spayed, current on shots, heartworm tested and micro-chipped.    To adopt her will cost $100.  Emma will be at the Petco adoption center on Route 1 in Edison in the Home Depot shopping center, on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check the ARF website on Saturday and Sunday to see if anything has changed.

Cheeks is a sweet cat who was turned into a high-kill shelter by his owner.  He got a cold and ended up on the kill list.  He is as sweet as can be.  He wants nothing more then to be petted.  He purrs and head-butts for attention.  He will sit in your lap as long as he can.  He doesn't like cats that are aggressive or go after him, but would probably do well with a submissive female cat.  He likes dogs and plays with them.  He also has a good appetite.  He had entropian (eye lashes grow inward)  but had corrective surgery to correct it.  He also has FIV.  Which isn't anything horrible.  It can't be passed from cat to dog or humans.  To adopt him is $85.00, which includes his neuter, shots and microchip.
