Adopt A Pet from ARF This Weekend

Adopt an animal at one of three adoption centers this weekend.

There are cats and dogs everywhere that need a nice, safe happy home. Help them find one this weekend by attending one of three adoption events sponsored by the this weekend. ARF holds weekly adoption events throughout the area to find homes for animals that would have been euthanized in a shelter or whose parents can no longer care for them.

Every Saturday and Sunday you can find ARF at the PetSmart on Route 18 in East Brunswick from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; at the Petco on Route 1 in Edison from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and at the Englishtown Auction, 90 Wilson Road, Englishtown, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (located in the big gray building). Visit ARF's web page HERE.

While many animals are available, here are just a few you can find this weekend.

Nellie is a Maltese/poodle mix from a puppy mill in the Midwest. The owner can't keep her because she has asthma and is allergic to the dog. Nellie spins when she is nervous, which doesn't seem to be a big problem. She does it when she is nervous. ARF will provide Clamacalm (medicine) if anyone wants to try it. Nellie is spayed and up-to-date on her routine shots. She will be groomed by the weekend. To adopt her will cost $250, which includes her spay, shots, heartworm test, and ID chip. Nellie will be at the Englishtown Auction booth in the gray building on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For directions visit the ARF website. Be sure to check the site on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. because ARF is not sure which adoption center she  will be at.

Piper is a 2-year-old boxer/hound mix. She was adopted from ARF as a baby, and returned because the family said she wasn't good with their baby. She needs a home that does not have small children. Otherwise, she is sweet and a good dog. She is spayed, up to date on her shots. She weighs about 25 pounds. Piper will Nellie will be at the Englishtown Auction booth in the gray building on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For directions visit the ARF website. Lance is a 4-month-old male domestic cat that was pulled from a High Kill shelter by one of ARF’s rescuer friends when he was scheduled to be euthanized. Volunteers have been giving him lots of love, and he is building his confidence daily. He is still shy, and scared of loud noises, but loves attention, and cries to be held. He loves other cats, and loves to be pet and held. The ideal home for him is somewhere quiet, and with an experienced cat person, who knows how to bring him out of his shell, and understands that cats can take their time, and wouldn’t mind that. He is already neutered, up to date on his shots, tested and negative for FELV/FIV, and also micro chipped. Lance will be at our Petco adoption center on Route 1 in Edison on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check back with the ARF website on Saturday and Sunday to see if anything has changed.

Jake is a 12-year-old miniature pinscher. He is very sweet but his owners don't have time for him. Jake is neutered, up-to-date with his shots, and house trained. He has a short black and golden coat. Jake will be at PetSmart on Route 18 in East Brunswick, in the Midstate Mall shopping center Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check the ARF website on Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. to see if anything has changed.
