EBPL Adds Free Tax Workshops

Free advice offered for business owners.

The Business Resource Center at East Brunswick Public Library is now offering a four-part tax workshop taught by IRS-trained accountants for free.

These great workshops will help new business owners or individuals understand and meet federal tax obligations. Pre-registration is required. To register, please call 732-390-6782, email brc@ebpl.org, or come in to the library to register in person.

Lesson 1, Sept. 18 • 10 a.m. to noon

This lecture is for everyone, no matter what kind of business you have or whether you have employees. You’ll learn about Federal taxes for your new business, Schedule C and other small business taxes and tax forms.

Discover information that may be relevant to you now-- or that may become relevant once your business has become established. You will learn how to file and pay your taxes electronically and all the details of how to run a home-based business.

Lesson 3, Oct. 2  • 10 a.m. to noon

This lecture is for employers who already have, or who are thinking about hiring, employees. You’ll learn how to set up a retirement plan for you and your employees, and about Federal tax requirements for hiring employees or independent contractors.

Lesson 4, Oct. 9  • 10 a.m. to noon

This lecture is for employers who already have, or who are thinking about hiring, employees. The lecture will cover how to manage payroll and employee withholdings, how to make tax deposits and file a return/report payroll taxes, and how to hire people who live in the U.S. but who aren’t U.S. Citizens.
