Ethnicity in America: Becoming American

Michael Aaron Rockland returns to the library stage in May.

Michael Aaron Rockland, PhD., returns to the East Brunswick Public Library on Monday, May 6, at 7 p.m. to discuss the experience of becoming an American during FUSION 2013: Ethnicity in America: Becoming American.

Dr. Rockland returns to The Library with an examination of how various ethnic groups struggle to become American while simultaneously maintaining their identity and integrity. He will explore how the “melting pot” as a metaphor describing American life has been replaced by the “salad bowl” or “the mosaic.” This free program is sponsored by The New Jersey Council for the Humanities Horizon Speakers’ Bureau, Agraj Seva Kendra, India Association of Garden State, Enjoy Explore India and The Library
