GBC Cheerleaders Do Great in Disney.

The Pop Warner Eastern Regional champions competed in Disney this month.

By Elaine Nevin.

And the Pop Warner Eastern Region Champions are … East Brunswick/Spotswood Golden Bear Chargers Junior Pee Wees (Small Division Level 2)!!!!   The cheerleaders went wild, the parents went numb!

“We are going to Disney!”  Then reality set in!  This “little team that could,” who never gave up despite many obstacles this season, was nominated to compete at the Pop Warner Cheer and Dance Nationals, Dec. 1 through Dec. 7. It was going to be spectacular.  It was Pop Warner’s 25th Anniversary hosting Nationals!

GBC was going in as Eastern Region undefeated champions.  They competed in three separate competitions to gain entrance to the National Competition (Central Jersey Cheer Competition, Central Jersey Qualifiers and Pop Warner Eastern Regionals).  They took first place in every competition.  The competition was fierce, and this “little team that could” placed 5th out of 16 teams at Nationals.  They could not have done a better job.  They received their highest scores of their 2012 cheer season.

It was best said by one of our parents, “This all could not have been possible without the extremely hard work and dedication of our head coach Myrta Maldonado!  Her mission, which NEVER wavered, was to make sure that every GBC cheerleader had a rewarding, positive experience.  She succeeded and surpassed all of our wildest expectations. She taught these girls that you never give up and you NEVER give in.  You charge up and get going again!  And again and again!   Her hard work and dedication paid off!  THANK YOU COACH M!!!!

“A special thank you goes out to our amazing assistant coaches, Nicole Petralia and Jackie Martinez!  Most of all we want to thank Kendall Bacskoczky for her incredible coaching/choreography skills and dedication to the GBC Organization.  She is not only part of the coaching staff but has been an exemplary GBC cheerleader for many years with the GBC Organization!  We love you Kendall!!!  You are “magical!”

Another special thank you goes out to our President, Ed Rogers!  He believed in us when no one else would!  Thank you Eddie!!!  You did help make this all possible.

The experience was one that will last a lifetime for the cheerleaders and cheer moms.  It was filled with laughter, it was filled with cheer but mostly it was filled with smiles from ear-to-ear.

Go GBC JPW’s!!!

Ooooh! Aaaah!  You wish you were a charger!
