Get Out: Memorial Day Fun for Families

Friday

 , 8:30-11:30 p.m., , 380 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick. Explore the nocturnal life around us. Meet at 8:30 p.m. near the entrance to Dallenbach Lake. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight.

, 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., , 144 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Parents may drop off their child at the YMCA for fun events, movie nights, dances, sports, crafts, cooking and more. Free to members, $10/child for non members.

Saturday

, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., , 144 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Drop children off, ages infant to 4 years old, for supervised play and for crafts, sports, fitness and games. The program is free to all members and only $10/child for non members.

Sunday

, 1-3 p.m., , 1 Jean Walling Dr, East Brunswick. During the program, East Brunswick Township will dedicate three newly installed granite pavers at the Veterans Monument and East Brunswick’s mayor will read the names of the soldiers on the Hometown Heroes wall in the East Brunswick Municipal Building.

Monday

New Brunswick Memorial Day parade, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., New Brunswick Downtown, New Brunswick. The annual Veterans Alliance of Raritan Valleys Memorial Day parade will begin at Monument Park with an opening ceremony. The parade will cross the Albany Street Bridge to Highland Park and stop for a brief ceremony at the Doughboy statue at Raritan and Woodbridge avenues. The parade will end at Bank of America on Woodbridge Avenue. Call (732) 819-0411. 

Ceremonial Wreath Honoring, 11 a.m., 148 Major Road, Monmouth Junction. American Legion Post 401 will present a ceremonial wreath honoring those who gave their lives in military service at 11 a.m. Monday at 148 Major Road in Monmouth Junction. Music will be provided by the South Brunswick High School Band and refreshments will be served. Call (732) 329-9861.

Urban Arts Festival, 1-6:30 p.m., State Theatre, 15 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Enjoy a day-long, outdoor festival with food, games, music, dance, theater, visual art, and other arts from urban street culture.
