Get Out: Soccer, the Civil War and a Soap Box Derby

There's plenty to do in East Brunswick and beyond this weekend.

Friday

, 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m., , 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction. Participants will learn simple concepts of art through fun and creative drawing activities. Lesson conducted by SB Art - a group of South Brunswick High School art students dedicated to induce the love of art to children. Space is limited. First come first serve.

, , 6-9 p.m., 144 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Parents may drop off their child at the YMCA for fun events, movie nights, dances, sports, crafts, cooking and more. Free to members, $10/child for non members.

Saturday

Come to Giamarese Farm and celebate the 70th Anniversary of the Strawberry Festival Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain or shine) with Our Lady of Lourdes. Enjoy Strawberry shortcake, hamburgers, hot dogs and other baked goods right on the farm where all your favorite tastes of the seasons started.

Take in some great amateur soccer during the East Brunswick Soccer Club’s 21st Annual Recreation Tournament. The East Brunswick Recreation Tournament is open to Recreational Teams, Tournament Teams, and All-Star Teams. The Tournament will be held at our / soccer complex in East Brunswick all day.

Visit the Festival of Fine Arts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the  in the Municipal Complex. With crafts for kids, live demonstrations, and 60 artists, it is one of the biggest festivals in the area.

,  9 a.m.–12 p.m., , 144 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Parents can drop children up to 13 years old off at the Y to be supervised and engaged by professional YMCA staff.  This program is free to all members and $10/child for non members. Children can enjoy crafts, sports, fitness and games. 

, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m., , 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction. Come out to buy books and help fund programs at the library.

, 11 a.m., , Cranbury. Reenactors, portraying New Jersey’s 14th Regiment, Company H, will dedicate the new monument after camping overnight next to the .

Sunday

Annual New Brunswick Recreation Soap Box Derby, 10 a.m., 501 George Street in New Brunswick at Johnson & Johnson's Headquarters. Watch kids kids ages 8-17 race their soap box cars. For more information, check out the official Soap Box Derby web site at www.njsbd.org.
