VIDEO: Halloween Party a Big Hit at Community Center

After a Hurricane Sandy delay, Woodbridge parents and kids had a blast at the Saturday Halloween epic.

After days spent cooped up inside, Woodbridge families headed out to the Woodbridge Community Center Saturday, for a delayed Halloween party, sponsored by the township.

Parents received 'robocalls' to tell them of the event.

"I love it, it's so much fun for the kids," said one lady, whose kids were dressed up in Halloween garb and who were clasping bags of goodies.

Various fun stuff took place outdoors, since the Woodbridge Community Center had been a tri-county evacuation center filled with refugees from the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

But by Saturday, all the homeless and sick people had been cleared out. Outside, the Halloween festivities took place, including a Halloween hayride that involved sitting on a trailer stacked with bails of hay which was pulled around the parking lot by a small tractor.

Had a great time Thanks Woodbridge for a day our kids could have some fun and forget the really bad things that were happening around them

The kids had a great time and it was so nice of Woodbridge Township to do such a great thing for them. The only concern I had was the fact that kids were having fun and going in a million directions and cars were trying to leave at the same time. If you commit to being there and doing the trunk or treating you should have to stay until the kids are done and safely out of the way. Also I did see people outside of Woodbridge Township there. I think it should be limited to residents of Woodbridge only. All in all it was great for the kids and better than sending them door to door. Kudos to Woodbridge!!

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. It sounded kind of heartless - "...all the homeless and sick people had been cleared out." Like they were just another pile of rubbish.
