On Demand fitness cable programs are a good option for working moms

As a working mom, I sometimes . And with the economy these days, I don’t want to spend extra money on an exercise class, gym membership or personal trainer.

I found a great solution to fitting fitness into my day. While browsing the “On Demand” television programs offered by my cable provider, Comcast, I found a section of offerings called “Exercise TV,” which includes a variety of fitness, sports and exercise programs. Among those programs are several fitness videos, which I can choose to watch and exercise to at any time of the day – when my schedule allows it. Most of the routines require very little equipment, which will keep costs down to a minimum. The below programs are great exercise choices for busy moms and families:

 Denise Austin’s Ab Fat Buster

For many moms, the abdomen is a problem area. Denise Austin’s Ab Fat Buster looks like it’d be a great routine for firming up the tummy before swimsuit season arrives. Her routine combines Pilates-inspired body-sculpting moves with more traditional toning exercises. The routine is just 8 minutes long and only requires hand weights and perhaps an exercise mat to complete.

Cindy Whitmarsh’s Less is More Cardio Workout

Found under “Cardio” in the Exercise TV section, Cindy Whitmarsh’s Less is More Workout combines a calorie-burning workout with pushups, marching and jump steps. This is a terrific 30-minute workout to get your body revved up and ready to go on a work day. What’s even better is that no extra equipment is required for this routine.

Leslie Sansone’s Kids Fun Fitness Family Walk

Try putting this program on when the kids are home, and they can join in the fun and get off the couch. Leslie Sansone's routine mixes easy exercise moves with walking in place, for a total of 36 minutes of exercise.

 Mayte Garcia’s Belllydance Fitness

This ab workout is a 10-minute fitness routine that your husband might want to stick to see, as it combines belly dance-style dance moves with a cardio workout. If you like dance, this workout is a great alternative to other strictly cardio or straight exercise routines. No additional exercise equipment is required.
