July is Parks Month

The mayor and Township Council proclaimed July Recreation and Parks month.

Summer’s here and the time is right to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

On Monday, Mayor David Stahl proclaimed July Recreation and Parks Month, and encouraged everyone to get out and visit township parks, enjoy the Parks Department’s activities and take advantage of its facilities.

“The kids get out of school and it’s a perfect time to remember all the great facilities we have for our youth and everyone else to enjoy,” he said during Monday’s Township Council meeting.

According to the proclamation, “the Division of Recreation and Community Services, the Division of Parks as well as the Recreation Parks Advisory Board take great pride in the scope of leisure opportunities offered to all East Brunswick residents, regardless of social or economic background, age or disabling condition.”

In addition, the Division of Recreation and Community Services and the Division of Parks joined the National and the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association in their promotion of the “Rock Your Park,” campaign.

“The township has always had, in my opinion, a very progressive and busy parks and recreation department and this summer is no different,” said Mike Reissner, manger of the Division of Recreation and Community Services.

Reissner said this year’s popular is full, the is open all week and events such as the are just a few things residents can take advantage of. He also encouraged everyone to visit at least five township as part of the National Recreation Parks Association Take Five program.

“We encourage everyone to get out to the park system, we have a great park system,” he said.
