Churchill Student to Perform in Legally Blonde

Gabriella Green to perform in Broadway Workshop Musical.

Broadway Workshop will present Legally Blonde: The Musical at The Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater from May 18 through May 20, and East Brunswick’s own Gabriella Green will be a part of it.

Legally Blonde: The Musical is the award-winning Broadway sensation based on the hit movie of the same name, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hatch. Based on the novel by Amanda Brown, Legally Blonde tells the story of Elle Woods, a California sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School in hopes of proving she’s “serious” and winning back his love. Broadway Workshop’s production marks the first NYC staging of Legally Blonde since its 2007 Broadway run.

The production is made up of over 50 young actors who are divided into two casts.  Cast members come from throughout New York City and the tri-state area and have a wealth of theater, film and television experience, including Gabriella.

Gabriella is a student at Churchill Junior High School and has performed in over 35 shows in various venues. She was seen in other Broadway Workshop productions including Disney Theatricals pilot production of The Little Mermaid, Jr., the pilot production of The Secret Garden: Spring Version, and the developmental workshop production of Zombie Junior Prom for Samuel French. She also performed in the opening number of the in November 2011. Locally, Gabriella recently made her East Brunswick High School stage debut in their spring production of Zombie Prom.

Legally Blonde: The Musical will be directed by Marc Tumminelli and Choreography by Casey Leigh Thompson with Musical Direction by Charlotte Evans. Performances will take place May 18 at 8 p.m., May 19 at 8 p.m. and May 20 at noon and 5 p.m. at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater at 405 West 55th Street (off of 9th Avenue), New York, N.Y.
