Donation Helps Fund Summer Concerts

The Division of Recreation is holding five outdoor concerts over the next month, two of which may not have happened if it weren’t for a donation by a local business.

Pagano Real Estate, developers of Summerhill Square on Route 18, donated $1,000 to the division to help fund the summer concert series, which will kick of tonight (Wednesday, June 29) at the on Dunhams Corner Road and Cranbury Road with a performance by the B Streetband. 

“East Brunswick puts on a lot of good programs for the community and residents,” said Robert Pagano. “They really make a strong effort.”

Pagano said the donation was made to help the township’s effort to bring community events and programs to residents. The company made a similar donation last year to help fund the township's Fourth of July/150th Anniversary celebration.

“East Brunswick does a fabulous job, they go out of their way to bring programming to the community,” he said. “A lot of programs are being cut back because of the economy. It’s nice to see them putting community events on like this.
Tonight’s show will begin at 7 p.m. and feature Bruce Springsteen tribute band, the B Street Band. Karen Kecskes, recreation supervisor, said the donation meant that two additional concerts were added this year.

Other shows during July include Tequila Rose, which will play new and classic country music at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 9; children’s performer Yosi, at 6:30p.m. Wednesday, July 13; NJ’s Most Wanted Rock ‘n Roll Party Band at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 23; and Sidewalk Serenade will bring its Doo Wop-and Motown and classic rock sounds to the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 30.
