Celebrate National Day of Puppetry! Register by April 13

Celebrate National Day of Puppetry in Bridgewater, NJ on Saturday, April 21.  The Garden State Puppetry Guild hosts "The Magic of Puppetry," an all-day puppetry festival, partnering with the 4-H Club of Bridgewater.  Join Guild members from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for morning workshops and afternoon performances displaying a wide variety of puppetry styles at the Ted Blum Somerset County 4-H Center, 310 Milltown Road, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Morning workshops give children and their families hands-on experience creating and manipulating handkerchief puppets and rod puppets.  There is also a movement and voice workshop for hand puppets.  Registration for workshops begins at 9:00 am April 21 at the 4-H Center.  There is a materials fee of $15.00 per child, which includes all three workshops.  Workshops are geared for grade-schoolers.

Bring your lunch so you can stay, enjoy and participate in the free afternoon puppet shows, which begin at 1:00 pm. Shows will include Penny Rapicano's Fun on a String marionettes, Lois Corwin's Double Ducky Theater featuring hand puppets, An Introduction to Ventriloquism with Michael Terletsky, a shadow puppet show "The Amazing Leo" about a magician from San D Hasselman, and theater participation games for the children using puppets created in the morning workshops.
