Middlesex County Fair Kicks Off Tonight

Check out animals of all kinds, view local art and ride on the ferris wheel this week at the fair.

The Middlesex County Fair opens its gates at 5 p.m. tonight, Monday, Aug. 5, for seven days of rides, games, demonstrations from local groups, arts and crafts, live entertainment, racing pigs and plenty of fair food.

According to Dan Mulcahey, fair spokesman, the county fair is observing its 75th anniversary this year.

In celebration, they've doubled their fireworks, scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on both Monday, Aug. 5 and Sunday Aug. 11.

They've also booked a few "pretty big bands," Mulcahey said, including Jersey favorites The Nerds on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and nationally-known country music artist Jared Ashley on Friday, Aug. 9.

The fair will continue to offer crowd favorites like the pig races, the dog show, livestock tents, and 4-H exhibits.

"The good stuff you've come to expect from the county fair," he said.

The Middlesex County Fair is open from 5-11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 through Saturday, Aug 10, and from 5-10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.

It is located at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds, 655 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors ages 65 and older and $1 for children ages 3-12. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.

Admission is free for visitors who donate blood at the on-site Blood Center of New Jersey truck.
