Applebee’s to Host ‘Police & Firefighter Appreciation Day’ Sept. 28

Applebee’s Restaurant to Offer Complimentary Entrees to Law Enforcement, Firefighters

PISCATAWAY, NJ – September 19, 2012 – A community can’t thrive without the aid of its police and firefighters; so Applebee’s at 1282 Centennial Avenue wants to be sure that these public servants know how much they’re valued.  On Friday, September 28, 2012, Applebee’s will celebrate Law Enforcement & Firefighter Appreciation Day.  All Police and Firefighters (active, reserve, retired, career and volunteers) with proper ID, will receive a complimentary meal off of our Applebee’s Signature menu on the event day.

Applebee’s is offering a special menu including some of its signature and favorite items, including the:

  • 7 oz. House Sirloin

  • Bacon Cheeseburger

  • Three Cheese Chicken Penne

  • Chicken Tenders Platter

  • Oriental Chicken Salad

  • Fiesta Lime Chicken®

  • Double Crunch Shrimp

Guests will need to provide proper police or firefighter identification.  Offer is valid for Dine-in only. Traditional sides are included with the free entrees; 2 for $20 appetizers, upgraded side items or extras, beverages, desserts and gratuity are not included.

Community member Linda Ann Sullivan came up with the idea for a day to appreciate police and firefighters and presented it to Applebee’s.  “Linda is a passionate and caring individual who worked tirelessly to make this happen,” said Ken Kirk, Applebee’s General Manager in Piscataway.  “We are pleased to take this opportunity to give something back to these selfless professionals who risk their lives for the public’s safety.”

A focal point of Law Enforcement & Firefighter Appreciation Day at Applebee’s will be a single empty table.  That table will represent those police and firefighters who cannot be there, whether they were killed or injured in the line of duty or have passed away due to other causes.  The empty table will signify that a grateful community will always remember their service.

State Senator Bob Smith (D-17th), a Piscataway resident, said that he plans to participate in Law Enforcement & Firefighters Appreciation Day.  “Recognition of our first responders is long overdue,” Sen. Smith said.  “I congratulate Applebee’s for this outstanding effort.”

Applebee’s expression of thanks was also welcomed by Piscataway Police Chief Rick Ivone.  “Police and firefighters are happy to do our jobs, but it means a lot to us to know we’re appreciated by the people we protect,” Chief Ivone said.

So stop in at Applebee’s on Law Enforcement & Firefighters Appreciation Day and take the opportunity to thank and celebrate the police and firefighters whose dedication to duty keeps us all safe.
