Extended Hours and Deals Highlight Black Friday

Black Friday will start earlier than ever this season.

When the last plate is cleaned, and the last bit of cider drank, and Thanksgiving is winding down, many people will head out the doors earlier than ever for some Black Friday shopping, the biggest shopping day of the year.

“We’ve been working on staffing for a while,” said Manager Roman Zielonka. "We probably started preparing two or three months ago. There is lots of training, with learning how the TVs work, the tables, and phones work.”

Zielonka said that this year, rather than hiring seasonal help, many permanent employees offered to work extra hours.

"We have some very experienced employees working on Black Friday," he said.

For many businesses, Black Friday is no longer limited to Friday. While and are pushing the envelope with midnight openings, will open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.

As incentive to get people to put down the bird and turn off the football, Toys R Us and others all have “Doorbuster” deals for people who come out. These deals are usually big and for limited times only.
