What Should Replace Glamour Beauty?

Beauty store closed in 2012; what would you like to see fill the empty store?

After years dolling up the ladies of Ridgewood, Glamour Beauty on East Ridgewood Ave closed late in 2012.

In a letter posted on the storefront, owner Paula Karach wrote that she strove to offer great customer service with a smile. She'd been rewarded with great customers and friends that formed the foundation of her business, she wrote.

Patrons are now encouraged to visit sister store Glamour Too in Waldwick.

But it leaves the burning question – what kind of business should take over the space?

Tell us in the comments – what would you like to see?

...'Cause that's what being Ben Murphy is all about. And I'm Ben Murphy.

What happened to Paula and Glamour Beauty is horrible. Surviving 20 years is a huge accomplishment! I know she gave her heart and sole the that store. Rising rents, taxes and a struggling economy kill small businesses. Before you open a small business remember, business is business. There is no loyalty in business no matter how long you've been there!

To be quite honest with your I never kenw the store was there. Guess I did not have need for it. As for attackng the landlords and the rents- nobdy made the tentant sign the lease for the property! Whatever the market will bear. I am a landlord of residential properties in the village and I know I had to lower rents to be able to fill the homes. Better than being vacant.

Megan. I have lowered rents also on property I own and manage through out the CBD. Some store rentals are the same rent that we was getting 10 years ago. Yet the taxes are much higher and keep rising. Its a fact of life that the mom and pop stores just can't make it here with the internet and the malls with FREE. We could use some big box stores but they are not coming here with out parking. Glamour Beauty was not pushed out by a rent increase. $3250 is below market rent. its a great location. Things are picking up with many new businesses opening. I'm happy to see that there are still some rational people out there.
