“This is the second year we’ve entered the State Fair Competition and we’re pleased to receive medals for all four of the wines we entered.  We work hard to make quality grapes and we’re honored that the judges like our Davis wine,” said Gene Glaeser, founder of Putah Creek Winery.

At Putah Creek Winery, we are dedicated to bringing you hand-crafted wines that showcase our region.  Our wines have acquired awards from the San Francisco Chronicle and the California State Fair Wine Competitions since 2009.  While the winery is not open for regular tasting hours, check their website for event details: http://putahcreekwinery.com/events.html. Customers can find Putah Creek Winery wines at both Nugget Markets in Davis, the Davis Food Co-Op and at select local restaurants.  They can also be ordered from their website (http://www.putahcreekwinery.com/order.html) or contact Jessica Chin Foo for order details.

For over 150 years, the California State Fair has recognized the best wines of the state and the dedication of wineries and vintners in the Golden State’s viticulture and enology industry. The winners were determined by seventy-two judges on 18 panels who come from a wide range of backgrounds, from wine educators, wine makers, wine journalists, retailers and wholesalers to wine collectors and those from the restaurant trade. This year 48 Double Gold, 207 Gold, 915 Silver and 618 Bronze were awarded.
