Beautiful Irises at the Butterfly Park
Beautiful irises are blooming at the Butterfly Park
Over the past few years, volunteers have planted hundreds of irises in the flower beds at the Butterfly Park. Many of these are finally reaching maturity and have incredible, beautiful and huge flowers on them. As with all perennials, they take some time to mature. The saying for perennials goes "first year sleep, second year creep, third year leap" and that is just what many of our irises are doing. After patiently waiting for them to flower, they are really putting on a show this year. But the blossoms don't last long. If you haven't been to the Butterfly Park to see them yet, you only have a few days until they are past peak. It's well worth the visit.
Information on the Butterfly Park is on the Friends website at www.friendsebec.com and the Butterfly Park also has a Facebook page with lots of photos posted by visitors to the Park. And if you are into Geocaching, there has been a cache at the Butterfly Park since 2004 that has been found more than 250 times. Details are on the Geocaching site at www.geocaching.com.
