Freecycling is coming! Freecycling is coming!

Help reduce usable stuff going into our landfill and search for treasure at the FIRST ANNUAL EAST BRUNSWICK FREECYCLING EVENT!

The First Annual East Brunswick FREECYCLING event will be held Sunday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crystal Springs parking lot. This is a joint project of the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission (www.friendsebec.com), the Division of Recreation, Parks and Community Services (http://www.facebook.com/ebrec) and the Recycling Center (http://www.eastbrunswick.org/departments/recycling.asp).

I suspect many of you reading this are asking what the heck is FREECYCLING? Well, it is all of the tenets of the mantra "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" all rolled into one fun program. It's a fleamarket, a yard sale and a picking opportunity and its FREE! Freecycling is the perfect opportunity to get rid of unwanted clutter without the hassle of a garage sale and to score some cool new clutter! As the saying goes "one person's junk is another person's treasure" so come find some new treasure!

FREECYCLING is simply an opportunity to donate and recycle virtually anything* by bringing it to the Crystal Springs parking lot. But that's only the half of it. The best part is that you can take away anything else you want that someone else left there. It's a big trading event and it's all FREE! It's a way for all of us to find something we need and keep as much stuff out of our landfill as possible in a fun way. We will have a vendor there who will take away anything that is remaining at the end of the day and will recycle it. A portion of the profits from his recycling effort will be donated to the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission (www.friendsebec.com) so that we can continue to bring year round free programming like the Butterfly Park (http://www.friendsebec.com/butterflypark.htm), Moth Nights (http://www.friendsebec.com/mothnight.htm), Salamander Crossings (http://www.friendsebec.com/salamandercrossing.htm), the new Green Book Club (http://ebgreenbookclub.blogspot.com/), the Option Green Lecture Series (http://www.friendsebec.com/optiongreen.htm) and so much more.
