Frost Woods And A Flowering Sea of White

The blooming Mountain laurel is amazing!

The mountain laurel at Frost Woods is now in full bloom and with all of the white blossoms against the dark evergreen leaves the park is simply stunning. It's almost hard to convey in words how incredible what must be literally millions of white and pink tinged flowers look like. This is probably the most beautiful place in East Brunswick right now. The blossoms are at their peak now and won't last for more than a week or two,  so visit now if you can. Any trail is fine, the Mountain laurel is just about everywhere. There is a downloadable trail map and a description of the natural hsitory of Frost Woods on the friends website here.

Enjoy the photos I took yesterday but they don't even come close to doing justice to how awesome all of the flowers are throughout the park.  This is also a great place to take photos and enter them into the Beautiful East Brunswick Photography Contest. We are giving out prizes for the best photos. Details are on the website.

While you are in the park, listen for the plaintive song of the wood thrush and the distinctive onomatopoeia call of the Eastern wood peewee that sounds just like it's name pee-a'wee. Both were calling yesterday and added to a great woodland experience.
