I rented a grey 2013 Nissan Altima on Feb 22 and it was due back on Feb 25@1130am. On Feb 24, I went to start the car and it wouldn't start. I called HAROLD and he sent Chris to check the car. I let use my jumper cables to successfully jumpstart the car. I called HAROLD back and he told me that I must've left something on in the car to make the battery die, and I was lucky that he wasn't charging me for a roadside assistance visit. He also advised that if the battery died again, then that would mean that the battery wasn't charged sufficiently and if he had to send someone back out, he would charge me for it. I decided that I wanted to return the car early because it was obvious that this wasn't going to go well. I went to the gas station to fill up the tank and the battery died again, 3hrs after the first dead battery. I called Harold and left a voicemail message (because they never answer their phone) at 514pm to advise what happened. He returned my call at 547pm and advised that he would be there til 6pm and I could come get another car if I wanted. Obviously I wasn't going to make it there by 6pm, right. I went there the following morning at 8am. Harold accused me of tampering with the car and took the car back before my contract was over saying that he felt uncomfortable with me continuing to keep the car. I called the police to have a record of what was going on. Harold gave the police a statement that he found nothing wrong with the car because he was able to start it 3 times with no trouble, and that he would not be allowing me to take that car or another car. Even though he told the policeman that nothing was wrong with the car, Harold then said he would be sending the car to Nissan to be checked out and he would leave my contract open, which means I would be responsible for paying for the time it was being serviced if no mechanical trouble was found with the car. Harold is a thief and a liar who I don't trust at all. I called corporate headquarters at 918-669-3000 and asked to speak to the president of the company. I spoke to the presidents assistant who advised that the east Brunswick (and Edison) locations of Thrifty are independently owned, therefore corporate has little influence over how they do business. However, she was able to help in getting my contract closed and my deposit refunded. I forwarded her previous reviews that show that Harolds rogue behavior is the norm, and she said it would be reviewed by the licensing dept. She advised that she corporate would go ahead and refund me the last rental fee, which I'm still awaiting. I was very fortunate to have spoken to someone who was willing to help.

This Thrifty location (and Dollar Rental) and the Edison location is owned/operated by EXECURIDE, INC., owner is Dustin Valenti. The manager here is named Harold. They provide poor service and blame the customer, and the make the customer pay. Please beware!!!!
