Accidents Tie Up Turnpike Traffic

Two accidents are playing havoc with the morning commute.

The New Jersey Turnpike is plagued by two accidents and a series of delays, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s (NJTPA) website.

As of 8:42 a.m., there were two accidents causing delays, including an overturned truck and a truck fire on the outer roadway northbound south of Exit 9, at Route 18 in East Brunswick. The shoulder remains open to traffic, according to the NJTPA.

One minute earlier, a disabled tractor trailer was reported northbound, north of Exit 8, at Route 33, in East Windsor. The right lane is blocked.

Earlier this morning, at 8:36, delays were reported on the Eastern and Western Spurs, northbound from Southern Mixing Bowl to South of Exit 15W-I-280 in Newark and Kearny. Volume of traffic was causing a 2-mile delay on the Eastern Spur and a 3-mile delay on the Western Spur, according to the NJTPA.

Delays were also reported at Exit 4, Route 73, due to delays on Route 73 at 8:13 a.m.
