UPDATED: Best Places to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in East Brunswick

Here, the Patch guide to St. Patrick's Day in East Brunswick, from the best Guinness pours to the most delicious Irish dinners.

Maybe you aren't as Irish as St. Patrick himself (who was kidnapped and sent to Ireland as a slave, escaped in 409 and returned to Ireland in 432, believing he had been called upon to spread the word of God) but on March 17, everyone's a little Irish.

So, check out these local St. Patrick's Day events and celebrations. Slainte!

St. Patrick's Day promotions in town include free green boutonnieres at 1-800-FLOWERS. Patrons just need to visit 1-800-flowers.com and print out a coupon to bring to the store, located at 285 Route 18, to get a free boutonniere to wear during your St. Patrick's Day celebration.

The promotion runs from Thursday, March 14-Sunday, March 17.

Smashburger has announced their new Mint Oreo Shake, unveiled in time for St. Patrick's Day. According to Smashburger, it's a mix of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, mint flavoring and Oreo cookies.

Smashburger is located at 591 Route 18.

The Tilted Kilt, 755 Route 18, plans on celebrating through the entire weekend.

Specials include $5 Guiness, Smithwicks and Harp throughout the weekend, as well as live music on Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Click here for information.

Hooters, 195 Route 18, will host a bikini show for St. Patrick's day at 9 p.m. March 20, in addition to their usual party antics.

In New Brunswick, Tumulty's Pub, 361 George St., will feature live music from Lesser Seamus on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17. There is no cover to attend. Check the bar's Facebook page for more information.

George Street Ale House, 378 George St., New Brunswick, will host a St. Patrick's Day party on Sunday, March 17, featuring Irish food like corned beef and cabbage, Reuben sandwiches and Bangers and Mash. Drink specials include $4 Tullamore Dew shots and $5 car bombs.

Are you looking for something other than corned beef and a beer?

The East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Drive, will host a free performance by "Whiskey & Porter," who will perform jigs, pub songs and other arrangements of Irish Music.

The group will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at the library. The performance is sponsored by the East Brunswick Arts Commission and the Friends of the Library.

If you're looking to join the party in New York City, NJ Transit will offer extra trains and buses into the city for the parade on Saturday, March 16.
