Coffee Klatch with Cops

Have a cup of coffee with the East Brunswick Police Department on July 25 at the Seville Diner.

Join the East Brunswick Police Department at the Seville Diner from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, July 25 for a cup of coffee with the officers who patrol East Brunswick.

According to a Nixle message from the police department, "Coffee with a Cop" is meant to improve police and community relations in a relaxed and neutral setting.

Residents are invited out to the event to ask about community issues or just to meet the officers in town.

The event is part of a national police outreach effort, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, according to the message.

According to the message, the majority of residents meet their local police officers during emergency situations, which isn't conducive to relationship building.

“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our officers,” said Deputy Chief William Krause, Jr. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
