Elderly Woman Dies in Valley View Road Accident

Dorothy Duck's vehicle failed to turn with a curve in the road and struck a telephone pole, police say.

An East Brunswick woman died Wednesday in a car accident while driving her great-granddaughter on Valley View Road, police say.

Around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dorothy Duck, 79 was driving west on Valley View Road, approaching the intersection of Sherwood Avenue, and failed to turn left with the curve in the road there, according to a Nixle Alert from the East Brunswick Police Department. Her car continued straight and struck a telephone pole.

Police performed CPR and used a defibrillator until Trans Med Ambulance Service EMT's and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital paramedics arrived and transported her to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.

Duck's four-year-old great granddaughter was restrained in a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash and was not hurt, according to police.

Police are still investigating the accident. Anyone with information is asked to call Patrolman Sean Garrison at (732) 390-6969.
