Accident, murder or suicide? It's the question that plagues the family of Nicky Fleming after the British diplomat falls off the roof of his embassy in West Germany in 1980. Equal parts spy novel and family drama, The Summer of the Bear tells the story of Fleming's grieving widow and three children during the months they spend in exile on a remote Scottish island, where a domesticated bear, having escaped from a circus wrestler, has also found himself marooned.

Pineapple Grenade by Tim Dorsey

The latest adventures of Serge A. Storms and his sidekick Coleman. Serge and Coleman are, as usual, traveling around Florida in search of the most obscure Florida tourists attractions. The Passage by Justin Cronin

Charlie Hardie trilogy by Duane Swierczynski

Explosive pulp thriller series from cult crime fiction sensation and Marvel Comics scribe Duane Swierczynski. Start with “Fun and Games.” Charlie Hardie, an ex-cop still reeling from the revenge killing of his former partner's entire family, fears one thing above all else: that he'll suffer the same fate. Languishing in self-imposed exile, Hardie has become a glorified house sitter. His latest gig comes replete with an illegally squatting B-movie actress who rants about hit men who specialize in making deaths look like accidents. Unfortunately, it's the real deal. Hardie finds himself squared off against a small army of the most lethal men in the world: The Accident People. It's nothing personal-the girl just happens to be the next name on their list. For Hardie, though, it's intensely personal. He's not about to let more innocent people die. Not on his watch.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

When a woman goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, her diary reveals hidden turmoil in her marriage, while her husband, desperate to clear himself of suspicion, realizes that something more disturbing than murder may have occurred.
