(VIDEO) "Jersey Girls" On Hand for Historic Soccer Night

The Women's National Soccer Team was at Red Bull Arena Thursday.

During a night in which America’s “Jersey Girls” played with the Women’s National Soccer Team Thursday at Red Bull Arena, it was legend Abby Wambach who made the headlines.

Wambach finished what had billed as the “Chasing Mia” sweepstakes when she set the all-time scoring record for international women’s soccer with 160, surpassing Mia Hamm’s 158. Wambach scored 4 goals against Korea in what would ultimately be a 5-0 win.

While Wambach chased history, a solid New Jersey core also were on hand. Christie Rampone of Point Pleasant, Heather O’Reilly of East Brunswick, Carli Lloyd of Delran, Yael Averbuch of Upper Montclair, Tobin Heath of Basking Ridge and Jill Loyden of Vineland were all on hand for the historic night.

"It feels incredible to play at home in New Jersey," said O'Reilly. "I see the little girls in the stands and it just brings me back to when to when I was their age. New Jersey is such a fantastic state when it comes to sports and particularly soccer. I am proud to be from here."

After the game, Wambach thanked her teammates for their help and great play.

"I’m so thankful, and I’ve said it all along, my teammates were trying to get me those goals, that was clear,” Wambach told NBC Sports after the game. “At halftime I was like, it’s over with. Let’s get back to playing. Be selfish. Take shots for yourself. I can’t thank them enough. (Lauren) Cheney, Megan (Rapinoe) Alex (Morgan), with the fourth goal assist. Amazing.”
