Local Rabbi Makes First Apperance in Court on Indecent Assault Charges

Rabbi Aryeh Goodman has been charged with 12 counts of indecent assault on a minor while he was a counselor at a summer camp more than a decade ago.

An East Brunswick Chabad rabbi has made his first court appearance for 12 counts of indecent assault against a juvenile that allegedly happened more than 10 years ago, according to reports.

Rabbi Aryeh Goodman has been charged with allegedly inappropriately touching a minor under the age of 13 multiple times while Goodman was a counselor at Camp Menachem in Pike County, Pa. in 2001.

According to a report by Greater Media Newspapers, Goodman faces up to five years in prison for each count if convicted.

He was arrested on Jan. 4 by the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office and held at the North Brunswick Jail before being transported to Pennsylvania for trial proceedings, according to the report.

He is currently being held at the Pike County Correctional Facility in Lords Valley, Pa. on $35,000 bail, according to the report.

A preliminary arraignment was held on Jan. 14 and a preliminary hearing has been set for Jan. 23 in Pennsylvania. according to the report.
