Major Flooding Expected in Parts of East Brunswick

Mandatory evacuations have been put in place. No cars are allowed on the road. Officials ask that everyone stay indoors and safe.

The East Brunswick Office of Emergency Management is expecting major flooding in several areas of the township and is calling for mandatory due to a storm surge for Main Street from River Road to the Old Bridge Turnpike, Squire Street, Emerson Street, Oak Street,  River Road up to Millman Drive, Millman Drive, Jernee Drive, Cornell Drive and Portions of Addington Court.

Weather conditions have deteriorated rapidly and the heavy winds associated with Hurricane Sandy have affected the township. Numerous trees and live wires have fallen onto the roadways. As stated earlier, please remain home and avoid any travel or going outside if possible. The high winds have made being outside very dangerous. Wide spread power outages are now being reported throughout the township. Several traffic lights are out especially along Route 18.

Report storm related information such as downed trees or power lines or other non-life threatening situations call 732-432-6004.
