Obituary: John Dudas

Dudas was a member and former Commander of the Old Bridge American Legion Post 177 and a member of the Old Bridge Moose Lodge.

John J. Dudas died Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 69.

Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Avenel before moving to Monroe Township 30 years ago.

Prior to his retirement in 2005, he was a carpenter/millwright with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Millwrights in Perth Amboy for 48 years.

He was a member and former Commander of the Old Bridge American Legion Post 177, a member of the Old Bridge Moose Lodge, and was an avid hunter and fisherman with the Washington Heights Rod and Gun Club.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne.

He was predeceased by a brother, Alex Dudas.

Surviving are four daughters, Sherry Dudas and her husband James Kinsel of Chesterfield, Christine Dudas of Stewartsville, Saundra Scott of Flemington, and Tricia Dawson of Spotswood; two sisters, Susan Gaboury of Monroe Township and Theresa Schurko of Fords; and four grandchildren, Aaron, Gavin, Sarah and Samantha, and his longtime companion, Esther Mitchell.

Relatives and friends may call at the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, where a celebration of John’s life will be held at 4 p.m.

We will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. and proceed to Clover Leaf Cemetery, Woodbridge for the burial.
