OEM: 25 Residents in Shelters; Don't Go Out

Conditions are hazardous and winds will increase this morning.

Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Austin Kosik says weather conditions are hazardous and that people whould stay inside.

As of 4:30 a.m., there are 25 people with assorted animals in township shelters at l and the . 

He said there is flooding throughout the township and winds will increase until about 9 a.m. In addition, 5,000 to 7,000 people are without power. Trees and branches are down throughtout East Brunswick and driving conditions are hazardous.

Last night, Mayor David Stahl announced that there will be a pet friendly shelter opening at the  (2 Walling Civic Center Drive) as well as a shelter at . The mayor announced a township state of emergency and called for all cars to be off the road by 10 p.m.
