Parking Restrictions for Milltown Independence Day Celebration

The Milltown Police Department issued a list of parking restrictions in place for July 4. Here is a list of those roads, other restrictions, and the times of the parade and fireworks.

If you’re headed to Milltown today for the fireworks, better check this special message from the Milltown Police Department regarding “No Parking” areas.

Parking will not be allowed on the following streets tomorrow in Milltown:

JFK Drive from Violet Terrace to Washington Ave. (All Day)
JFK Drive from Violet Terrace to Carina Drive. (All Day)
Violet Terrace between JFK Drive and Bruce Court. (All Day)
Bruce Court (Borough Park Side from Violet Terrace and South Moetz Drive. (All Day)
North Main Street from 6 a.m. to noon (Parade)
VanLiew Ave. the (Entire Length 6 a.m. to noon.)
Booream Ave. from North Main Street to Highland Drive (6 a.m. to noon)

The Following streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic during the Fun Run, 5K Run:
JFK Drive from Washington Ave to Carina Drive.
East Lakewood Ave (Entire Length)
Violet Terrace (Entire Length)
The following streets will be closed during the parade:
VanLiew Ave (Entire Length)
North and South Main Street (from North Main/ Booream to South Main/Hill Street).
JFK Drive from Lincoln Ave to Washington Ave.
Violet Terrace (Entire Length)
East Lakewood Ave (Entire Length)
Detours will be setup along North and South Main Street and Washington Avenue to assist motorists around the parade route. All side streets leading up to North and South Main Street will be coned off.

The Fun Run will start at 7:45 a.m. followed by the 5K Run at 8:10 a.m. During the 5K run police will stop traffic along the route to allow runners to cross the intersections along Main Street.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. The Parade will begin at North Main Street and VanLiew Avenue and proceed to South Main Street, to Lincoln Ave, to JFK Drive, and conclude at Borough Park. There will be NO PARKING permitted along the parade route between 6 a.m. to noon or until conclusion of the parade. Patrol has been authorized to remove any vehicles that are parked along the parade route.

The “No Parking” areas in and around Borough Park are for emergency vehicles to park after the parade, and access for emergency responders during the park festivities and fireworks display.

The Police Department has setup a mobile command post in Borough Park near the basketball courts to assist residents as needed.

Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m. Rain date for the fireworks is July 7, 2012. A safety zone will be established in and around the park for the fireworks display. It will be marked off with yellow tape. No one will be permitted to sit inside the safety zone. Emergency Personnel will patrol the area and keep spectators out of exclusion zone.

No Alcohol is permitted in Borough Park at anytime. Police have been authorized to issue summons for anyone found in possession of alcohol in any type of container and or cooler. Anyone found in Borough Park in an intoxicated state will be removed from the park and issued summons accordingly. The minimum fine for any type of alcoholic beverage in Borough Park is $500 and possible loss of your driving privileges. Persons found in an intoxicated state face the same fines, in addition, maybe taken into custody. Violators will be removed from the park and banned from returning. Anyone who ignores the order and returns will be taken into custody and housed accordingly.
