Pinkin to Return Campaign Donations, Dems Say

Nancy Pinkin is running for Assembly in the 18th District and faces allegations claiming that she ran afoul of state election laws.

Democratic Assembly candidate Nancy Pinkin will return campaign donations and fix her campaign finance returns, according to a report on mycentraljersey.com.

Pinkin, who sits on the Township Council, is running for Assembly in the upcoming election.

She faces criticism over $20,000 worth of donations to her campaign from her husband, physician James Salwitz, which is in excess of the $2,600 limit for individual donors, according to the report. Salwitz is a regular blogger for the East Brunswick Patch.

Salwitz also serves as the treasurer for Pinkin's campaign, according to the report.

Republicans Lisa Goldhamer and Rob Bengivenga filed a request with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission asking for an investigation into the donation, as well as allegations of improper management and reporting of her campaign funds.

Derek Roseman, spokesman for the 18th district's Democratic campaign, said that the donation will be returned and amended campaign finance reports will be submitted to show Pinkin's campaign is in compliance with the law, according to the report.
