Pitch Paint Cans, Motor Oil on Sunday at Old Bridge DPW

The Middlesex County Division of Solid Waste Management will hold a Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day on Sunday.

Paint cans, pesticides, propane tanks and other potentially pollutive items of trash can be properly disposed of this weekend through a Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day at the Old Bridge Department of Public Works.    

Hosted by the Middlesex County Division of Solid Waste Management, the public is invited to bring their hazardous waste to the Old Bridge DPW, located at 1 Old Bridge Plaza in Old Bridge between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. 

According to a press release from the county, acceptable materials include but are not limited to: pesticides/herbicides, flammable liquids, solvents, pool chemicals, used motor oil, oil filters, paints, rechargeable and button cell batteries, anti-freeze, propane tanks, fluorescent light bulbs including compact fluorescent bulbs (no broken bulbs) and asbestos.

Anyone who wishes to bring asbestos must pre-register by calling (732) 745-4170.

Materials not accepted at the drop-off day include: tires, electronics, explosives/munitions, infectious/medical waste, household medications, appliances/furniture, unknown materials and empty containers, according to the release.

“The Freeholders and our partners are committed to offering programs that raise the quality of life of our citizens,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios, in a prepared statement. “The Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off program is one of our most popular and successful programs that really makes a difference.”
