Road Closings, Power and Government Updates

Here an incomplete list of what's opened, what's closed, and what's going on.

Here is an incomplete of an ever changing situation in East Brunswick. the Office of Emergency Management says it is working to get the township to where it was before Hurricane Irene hit. However, with extensive power outages, flooding and downed trees, that could take more than a few days.

Check back frequently as the list will be changing throughout the day,

  • PSE&G is reporting that between 2,001 and 5,000 East Brunswick residents are without power. JCP&L is reporting 2,395 customers in East Brunswick are without power
  • Township officials say it could take up to four days for power to be restored in some areas of the township.
  • After closing Route 18 at the Old Bridge border, the highway is now opened.
  • Recycling Center will be opened for seven straight days to assist in the clean up, today, Monday, Aug. 29, to Sunday, Sept. 4. Recycling and garbage pick ups will continue on their normal schedule.
  • Nielsen and Transportation Commerce Center are open for business, with Suburban Transit running a normal schedule.
  • will open today (Monday) at 11 a.m.

  • A Township travel ban was lived at 6 p.m. Sunday.
