School Closed Wednesday, Bicentennial Closed For Unsafe Conditions

More Closings come as a nor'easter makes it way.

The closings continue from Hurricane Sandy.

The East Brunswick School District announced this afternoon that school will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 7, due to areas with downed poles, trees and wires. The district expcts school to be open Thursday and Friday of this week however. Those days were originally scheduled days off for the New Jersey Education Association conferences, which were canceled.

The district also said the prediction of a nor’easter bringing wind and rain that could impact already compromised trees make for a dangerous situation.

“While our township has worked very hard to address these issues, this unprecedented storm requires our patience until everything is resolved,” said the school announcement.

Another closing the announced today is  Bicentennial Park, which suffered a number of fallen and damaged trees, making it unsafe for people to use for the time being.

I agree with closing the schools for the safety of our kids but don't understand why our town thought it was OK to tell parents that taking those same kids trick-or-treating was fine yesterday.

As a parent, it is your responsibility to know if it safe enough for your children to go out trick-or-treating.

I agree but we don't need the Mayor telling us it's OK to take your kids out trick-or-treating. We need leadership and consistency, which has been sorely lacking this past week.
