Seeking Senior Artists

The Middlesex County Office of Aging and Disabled Services’ annual juried Senior Citizen Art Contest & Exhibition is scheduled for July 22 through Aug. 16 at The Studio Art Gallery at Middlesex County College Performing Arts Center in Edison.

Any visual artist age 60 or older residing in Middlesex County may submit one entry completed within the past three years. The entry must not have been previously entered in the NJ State Senior Citizens Contest. Entrants may be of either professional or non-professional status. Please note: All artwork must be the original creation of the artists. All artists must register for the competition by June 28.

“I am proud of all our local artists and wish them luck in the upcoming show and contest.” said Freeholder Kenneth Armwood, Chair of the County’s Community Services Committee.

“On behalf of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, I would like to invite all our senior artists to participate in this year’s contest,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.  “Middlesex County is always well represented at the state contest level, and I expect this year will follow in that tradition.”     

The categories for the contest are: acrylic, craft, computer imagery, drawing, mixed media, oil, pastel, photography, print, sculpture and watercolor.

Winners from the County contest will participate in the State competition in September.
